Hoy, aprovechando que tenía el día libre, me he dado una vuelta por el centro de la ciudad y he sacado algunas fotos. Lo malo es que se ha puesto a llover de repente y he tenido que empezar a correr hasta la residencia...

Ayer estuve otra vez con la gente de la RockSoc, en un pub llamado The Nelson, donde la gente del comité hacia de DJ's con sus propios discos. La verdad es que estuvo bastante bien, y ademas conocí a dos ingleses más: Andy (que me alegró el día diciéndome que yo era el extranjero que mejor hablaba inglés que había conocido, ya ves tú!!! jeje espero que haya conocido a muchos...)y Martin, de Dover (vaya acento del sur que tiene, cuesta entenderle!).
Y esta semana no creo que haga mucho más, porque tengo mucho que leer para las próximas clases (todas básicamente consisten en leer libros y entregar essays a final de curso). Este fin de semana iré a ver al cine de la Union un par de pelis que me interesan: Inside Man (Plan Oculto) y El Gran Lebowski, a ver que tal. Ah! y ya tengo la entrada para el concierto de Dragonforce(7 diciembre)!!! Creo que ya sólo me falta el de Motörhead (8 noviembre), que será en el City Hall (ver fotos). Aunque hay una tentación enorme de ir a Manchester a ver a TOOL, porque ahora resulta que sus teloneros son nada menos que MASTODON!!!

Yesterday I went out with the people in the RockSoc to a pub called The Nelson, where the members of the committe played the music they wanted from their own CD's. It was a good night, and I also met two other English guys: Andy (who made me very happy by telling me I was the best English-speaking foreigner he had ever met!! hehehe I hope he met a lot...) and Martin, from Dover. And well, I won't be doing much more things this week, since I have a lot to read for my next classes (they basically consist in reading books and writing essays), but at least I'll be watching two films at the Union: Inside Man and The Big Lebowski, which are supposed to be great.Ah! I have also bought a ticket for Dragonforce's gig (December 7th);now I just have to buy one for Motörhead's (Nov. 8th), which will take place at the City Hall (see photos). And there is also the temptation to go to Manchester to see TOOL, because now they play with MASTODON!!!!

Ya llevo casi una semana en Sheffield y me voy acostumbrando a todo...Lo más difícil hasta ahora era el tema del horario de comida, pero más o menos ya lo llevo bien. Y en contra de lo que todos suelen decir, la comida inglesa no es tan mala!! La verdad es que no tengo ni idea a veces de lo que como, pero todo me gusta...

Bien, aparte de eso ya me he registrado de mis asignaturas, sólo queda mandar un papel a la UIB para que lo sepan y me den ya una parte de la beca. Además, me he apuntado a la Rock Society de la universidad, así conozco gente a la que le guste la misma música que a mí jejeje también hacen quedadas para conciertos y eso, así que estará bien. Hoy puede que vaya con la gente de esta sociedad al Corporation, que por lo visto es el tercer local mas grande de UK!!! Tiene un par de salas donde ponen metal, classic rock, etc. que es lo que me interesa.

También me he apuntado al equipo de baloncesto (el de fútbol era muy caro...), y el lunes tendría el primer entrenamiento, pero no podré ir porque tengo una reunión del departamento de catalán. Resulta que al final hago una asignatura de literatura catalana y otra que es 'Tandem Learning in Catalan', que consiste en juntarse con un inglés y hablar una hora en cada idioma a la semana; yo corrijo su catalán y él mi inglés jejeje hablaré más catalán aquí que en Mallorca, quién me lo iba a decir...

A ver que tal se da esta primera semana de clases...aunque no sé todos los horarios, de momento sólo tengo clase los lunes y martes!!

Almost a week in Sheffield, and finally getting used to it!! So far, the most difficult thing was the meals timetable, but I can cope with that now, more or less. And despite the general opinion about English food, I have to say that it isn't so bad!! Sometimes I don't know what I'm exactly eating, but I like everything...

Apart from that, I've already registered for all my subjects and I just have to send a document to my home university to tell them, so they can give me a part of my grant. I have also joined the Rock Society of the University, basically to meet people with my same taste in music, go to gigs, etc. I will probably go to the Corporation tonight with these people. It is said to be the third biggest venue in the UK!! And it has two rooms where they play metal, classick rock, etc. (that's what I'm interested in).

I have joined the basketball team as well (the football one was too expensive), but I will miss the first training next Monday, since I have a meeting of the Catalan department. The thing is that I will do a subject about Catalan Literature and another one called 'Tandem Learning in Catalan', which consists in meeting an English student who wants to learn Catalan and speak two hours per week, one in Catalan and one in English, and we correct each other. I wiil speak more Catalan here than in Mallorca!!!

So let's see how this first week of class goes...though I still haven't got my whole timetable, I only have classes on Mondays and Tuesdays!!

Hoy casi todo el mundo está de resaca jejeje yo sólo un poquito cansado...Ayer tuvimos una 'International Party' en nuestro bar, y allí conocí a un montón de españoles que están en mi residencia; la verdad es que estuvo muy bien y conocí a mucha gente. Aparte de españoles, he conocido a gente de sitios muy distintos: Australia, Japón, Francia, Alemania, Holanda, Suecia, Irán, Malasia, India, Dubai, EEUU...sólo falta alguien de Finlandia jeje...

Today everybody's on a hangover hehe...I am just tired...Yesterday night we had an 'International Party' at the residence's bar, and there I met a lot of people from Spain, and many different countries such as Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Germany, Netherlands, France, Sweden, Iran, India, Dubai, USA...still waiting for Finnish people though!! xD

Parecía que este día no iba a llegar, pero sí, ya estoy en Sheffield!! Llegué ayer por la tarde después de dos horitas de avión y una y media de autocar. Nada más llegar tuve que recoger las llaves de mi cuarto y subir las maletas a mi piso (el tercero!). Conocí a dos chicas del País Vasco (Bego y Nagore) y me fui a dar una vuelta con ellas, después de eso ya estaba hecho polvo y me dormí bastante rápido.

Hoy me he levantado y he probado la ducha, que esta bastante bien la verdad. A las 11 teníamos reunión Erasmus en la Union of Students, y allí me he encontrado con todos los españoles, incluyendo a M.Antonia, Araceli y Laura de la UIB. Después he ido con ellas a comer, a un sitio hindú algo raro donde todo era muy picante, pero bueno y no muy caro. La verdad es que tendré que hacer desayunos muy grandes, porque sino tendré que gastarme una pasta en comida!! Despues hice algunas compras: blu-tack para colgar mis posters y fotos, unas tijeras, una revista para tener algo que leer y un adaptador para mis cargadores.

It seemed like this day woul never arrive, but here I am, writing from Sheffield!! I arrived yesterday afternoon, after a two hour flight from Palma and an hour and a half in coach from Manchester. Finally in my residence, I collected my room key and swipe card and began emptying my luggage (which I had to carry until my floor, the 3rd one!!). I met two girls from Euskadi (Bego and Nagore) and we walked for a while through the city. After that I was so tired that I went to sleep.

Today I have 'tested' the bathroom and shower, and they are quite good, actually. At 11 we had to attend the Erasmus Meeting at the Union of Students, and there I met a lot of Spanish people (we are more than 50!!). Afterwards I went to have lunch with my classmates in Mallorca (M. Antonia, Araceli & Laura) in an Indian restaurant (too spicy for me, but tasty anyway!!). Then I bought some things for my room and had dinner at 6.30 (I hope i'll get used to British timetable!!).

Bueno, bueno...¡¡mi última semana en Mallorca!! Ahora parece que el tiempo ha pasado rapidísimo, el domingo ya estaré en el avión camino a Sheffield. A día de hoy ya está todo hecho, hice la matrícula en la UIB, elegí asignaturas,etc. Y sólo me queda trabajar dos días en el aeropuerto, que ya se había vuelto un poco aburridillo, la verdad...

Estos días estoy comprando las últimas cosas que me hacen falta para preparar la maleta, y supongo que el fin de semana montaremos algo para despedirnos...sniff sniff jejeje y poco más puedo decir ahora!! El siguiente post seguramente ya será desde Sheffield, y a partir de entonces este blog se irá animando, porque hasta ahora no había mucho que poner.

Well, well...my last week in Mallorca!! Now it seems that these months have passed very quickly, on Sunday I'll be on the plane in my way to Sheffield. At present everything is already prepared: I chose the subjects I'll be doing there,the ones I'll do here later, etc. And I just have to work two more days at the airport, something which was getting quite boring lately,to be honest.

These days I'm buying the things I need for my luggage and I guess we'll be having some party to say goodbye...sniff sniff xDjeje and that's all I can tell you now! My next post will probably be from Sheffield, and after that this blog will get much more interesting, since there was nothing very important to say so far.
